Homemade Paleo Biscuits & Gravy

Hey cupcakes!

Who wants a healthy biscuits and gravy recipe? What if I told you it was gluten free, dairy free, and paleo?

Here are some ingredients I gathered from my pantry to try and create some biscuits. I did not use the bananas or almond butter in the recipe so disregard those.

Ingredients:
  • 1 pkg. of yeast dissolved in 1/4 c warm water
  • 1 c cassava flour
  • 1/4 c almond flour
  • 1/4 c coconut flour
  • 1/4 c arrowroot flour
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 c unsweetened almond milk, plus extra
  • 3 T coconut oil
Directions:
-Combine dry ingredients in a bowl and mix to combine. Add eggs, yeast, almond milk, and coconut oil. Stir until combined. If the dough is too dry, add 2 T almond milk until a dough consistency. Let dough rise in a warm place (It won't rise quite like regular rolls, but it will give the dough a somewhat yeasty taste...which I love!). Once the dough has sat for about 30 minutes, preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Scoop dough onto a parachment paper lined baking sheet. Drop dough onto the sheet. Bake for 20 minutes or until the biscuit is cooked all the way through.

Here is what the biscuits look like when they are finished.

Now it's gravy time...

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb ground meat of choice (I used deer)
  • unsweetened almond milk
  • pepper
  • salt
  • cassava flour
  • arrow root flour
  • coconut flour

Directions:
Brown ground meat. Once cooked all the way through, sprinkle with 1/8 c of each flour. Add 1/2- 1 c of almond milk to start with & add salt and pepper to taste. Once the mixture starts to thicken, you can add more flour or more almond milk based on the consistency you like.

Once again, here is the finished product!

Enjoy!
