As you can see there are several to look out for!
Another mistake people make when cutting out or cutting back on sugar is that they use honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, and so on. While these are certainly better than refined sugars or artificial sweeteners, they are still full of fructose that our body simply does not need.
People also see packaging and think that since it says "sugar free" it must be! WRONG! The labels are allowed to say sugar free if they meet the requirement. Read the ingredients list and see for yourself if there is actually any sugar in the product. Here are 50 other names for sugar:
- Barley malt
- Beet sugar
- Brown sugar
- Buttered syrup
- Cane juice crystals
- Cane sugar
- Caramel
- Corn syrup
- Corn syrup solids
- Confectioner’s sugar
- Carob syrup
- Castor sugar
- Date sugar
- Demerara sugar
- Dextran
- Dextrose
- Diastatic malt
- Diatase
- Ethyl maltol
- Fructose
- Fruit juice
- Fruit juice concentrate
- Galactose
- Glucose
- Glucose solids
- Golden sugar
- Golden syrup
- Grape sugar
- High-fructose corn syrup
- Honey
- Icing sugar
- Invert sugar
- Lactose
- Maltodextrin
- Maltose
- Malt syrup
- Maple syrup
- Molasses
- Muscovado sugar
- Panocha
- Raw sugar
- Refiner’s syrup
- Rice syrup
- Sorbitol
- Sorghum syrup
- Sucrose
- Sugar
- Treacle
- Turbinado sugar
- Yellow sugar
Watch out for things like pasta sauce, ketchup, barbecue sauce, salad dressings, etc. Almost all brands of these products contain quite a lot of sugar.
Also, do not load up on a bunch of juices. There are pre-made juices in the grocery now that most people think are healthy. While drinking one every once in a while is not going to hurt you, you should not drink these very often. If you look at the nutritional label, most juices have 40+ grams of sugar. This is way too much to consume! (just as much sugar as drinking a soda) Instead, grab one apple or one banana.
Watch out for coffee shop drinks. Read the nutrition online before you order. This also applies to eating out. Most places have nutritional stats posted online. Look them up and decide what you are going to eat or drink before actually going there.

My goal for this week is to take some pictures of my meals for you guys! My meals do not always look so great since I use containers all week from my meal prep, but it may be helpful to see. It will also keep me accountable!
That's all I have for today! Long post this morning
Later taters!
